Thank You, No...Thank You.

My sister-in-law is getting married next month, and she asked me to make a few things for her wedding. Before you even think it...say it...yes...I realize it looks pretty darn distressed. She has a vintage vision for her wedding, so she wanted the "Thank You" sign (for the couple to hold during a pic, then later send out with thank you cards) to look very worn and old.

It was really easy to make. I bought the wooden plaques at Hobby Lobby, and painted them cream. I painted the words using a paint pen (I suck using a brush), then I took some good ole sandpaper to the plaque. I concentrated in certain areas, like the corners, edges, and places within the word. For the final touch, I watered down some black paint and brushed it over the entire plaque patting it dry with paper towel.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Monday!!-

Photography Challenge 4: Seared & Stuffed Red Peppers

In our household, my husband does most of the cooking. He is a bit of a foodie, and loves to give his dinners creative presentation. (That's why I love him.) Last night, he made this beautiful dish that was as YYYYUmmY as it was PrEttY! I couldn't tell you how he cooked it (sorry!), but he prob. couldn't either. He just goes with it, and it usually works for him.
Seared and Steamed Red Peppers stuffed with beef, rice, and beans topped with a slice of tomato and cheese. Sour cream, salsa, tortilla chips on the side, and that thing sticking straight up out of the red pepper? It's fried Pepper Jack cheese....OMG....SO.Darn.Good.

Easy Peasy Blueberry Cobbler!!

Deeeeeeeeeeeelicious Blueberry Cobler.
OH! and Easy. ohhh so easy.
This is a seriously summer dessert, and have had a hankering to make a cobbler for weeks. This is as easy as it gets, folks. (As all good summer things should be...)

Here's what you need:

1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 cup self-rising flour
1 stick of butter
1 qt. fruit... I went with blueberries...

Here's what you do:
* Heat oven to 350 degrees
*Melt butter in baking dish.
*Mix milk, flour, and sugar thoroughly. Pour into baking dish evenly over melted butter.
* Pour blueberries over batter.
*Bake for 1 hour.
* Serve with yuuuuuummmmmmy Vanilla ice cream.

Did I mention easy?

Yields 6-8 servings....try not to eat ALL of them. It will be a difficult task.

Cash's First Day at Kindergarten!

Today was the BIG day!! Cash is officially a kindergartener. How is that possible? My baby. Going to school. He is going to kinder at the same school that I teach at, so that is pretty sweet. The whole family (me, Andre, and Luc) were there this morning to walk him to class. He looked pretty nervous, and was certainly tired. (He was soooooooo hyped up the night before cause he knew SCHOOL WAS STARTING THE NEXT DAY!!) The fam. had to leave, and I looked at his little face....I had to walk quickly back to my own classroom cause I was about to loose it! Then my teammate peaked out of his door to ask me how it went, and I really lost it! Boo Hooing in the hallway. Ohhhh so emotional. What a scene.
I checked in on him at lunch, and he was doing great. Loved it. He says he really likes his teacher, and he cant wait to go back.

I feel better now.

Photo Challenge #3: Bold Colors

These are pics of my youngest son's Chuck Taylors. I found them for super cheap at TJMax, and I knew, as soon as I laid eyes on them, that he NEEDED these shoes. HE may not have known, but I KNEW. Mother's intuition, right?

And again, things have been insane around there. My first day of school (with kids) was yesterday, and it was great! YAY! However, these last two weeks have left me drained, drained, DRAINED, so these aren't new pics. But yes, I think they fit this weeks challenge, and I think they are a lot of fun. :)

Seriously, I should have a grip on my schedule by next week, and hope to actually CHALLENGE myself with the PHOTO CHALLENGE. Imagine. Such a concept. :)

I do have some posts ready to "hit the presses" as they say, but just haven't been able to muster up the energy thus far this week. Keep the faith, folks, cause it's gonna happen. really.

Hope everyone is having a fab week, and I WILL TALK TO YOU ALL SOON!!-

Tracy

Photo Challenge #2: What Makes You Smile?

Ok. I have to admit something. I DID take these pictures...However, I didn't take them this week. These are actually from earlier this summer while on vacation. This week was my first week back to school after two months of vacation. (I teach 5th grade.) It's been soooooooo busy, and I have been sooooooooo tired, that I have come home and CRASHED every night this week.
Next week will be better!! Hopefully, my body will be back on the "5:15 am wake up call" routine, and won't leave me in a slump by 5pm everyday. :)

Enjoy the shots anyway. They are plants from my grandparent's house. I love their structure and repetition.
