Secret Pal Gift

Ever had a secret pal? If so, then you know that you save the most rock'n gift for the last gift. A joyous send off, if you will. End it on a fantastic note...you want them to remember that gift rather than the 2 weeks in a row you forgot to bring them something. :) I mean, other people forget, I am awesome at this whole secret pal business.

SO! I've been gaga over this idea ever since I saw those hip chicks from Eighteen25 post the tutorial. I won't rehash what you can simply get from their site (and you should totally check it cause it's a totally rad site), but I was proud as punch about how my own little box of teacher goodies turned out. I thought would be a great addition to my "REVEAL" gifts. My lucky girl is going to get this box as well as some other cool things, but this treat excites me the most. She's an awesome teacher, and person so she totally deserves to be pampered.

I hope she likes it! We don't actually reveal until Wed., so I 'll let ya know. :)

Ribbons and Bows

A friend's little girl, Ava, had a birthday this week, and a little birdie told me she was in need of some girlie hair bows. I just happen to be in the mood for making the like, so I set to it. These head bands and barrettes are suuuuuuuuuuper easy to make, as are the flowers i put on them. I will post a tutorial later, but today...no time. What do you think?

bowling

Looks like summer time has arrived!! For me and a lot of you all out there this means that we have to find ways to keep our kids occupied and having fun.

My FAVORITE is free bowling offered by many bowling alleys across the nation. We’ve participated at the alley near our house for the last 2 years and loved it.

Get 2 Free Bowling Games per kid everyday all summer! You can also grab a pass for up to 4 adults to play all summer for $24.99.

The only catch is that you still have to pay to rent shoes, which can be upwards of $4. I recommend actually purchasing bowling shoes; you can find them pretty cheap if you keep your eyes open (think ebay).

Before you think your kids are too young… Cash bowled for the first time this December (he is three) and he loved it. Bumpers and a little ramp make it where most any age can play.

They have already started sending out the coupons this week, so you can sign up and play tomorrow!

Printable Bookplate

Here is another great freebie. I think I am going to make these for my book club gals as little "Happy Presents." Or you could print them on sticky label paper, trim them out, and include them with a set of children's books you give a kid. A girl kid, most likely, because they're kinda flowery. You could also, which I am totally going to do, print them for your own personal pleasure cause they are super cute.

SWAGGER WAGON

So Erin sent this to me stating that it was totally me and Andre. I thought it was pretty hilarious, and felt the need to share it with everyone. I laughed out loud. Check out this family's mad rapping skills.

Post Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a holiday held on May 5 that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza SeguĂn.It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and in the United States.[4][5][6][7] While Cinco de Mayo sees limited significance and celebration nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed nationwide in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day,[9] the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico.

-Wikipedia

We always celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Always. It's a great reason to eat some yummy Mexican food, and listen to some fun Mexican music. This year was no different. The Godbouts came over for dinner, and we had some DELICIOUS dip and chips ( gracias, Kristy) and some DELICIOUS burritos and beans (gracias, Andre). The only thing we forgot to do this year was take pictures....UGH! Boo on us. Hope everyone enjoyed the day with a cold corona. :)

Teacher Appreciation Week

I have been teaching for 11 years. Wow, right? Yeah, 11 years. Where has the time gone? :)

A lot of people think that teaching is what you do when you can't do anything else. I have trouble with this idea, and truly know that these people who think this must have never taught ANYTHING in their entire lives. Teaching is extremely challenging, and yet so very rewarding. It is a craft that has to be honed daily. This craft constantly has to be molded to fit the personalities and levels of development of our students. It is something one has to feel a call for, and I am proud to say that I do feel that call.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all teachers everywhere, and especially to all my Clifton Hills girls and gals that share a special place in my heart.

"It's all good in the hood."

To celebrate this week, I thought my 5th grade team deserved some sweet treats. I whipped these up, thanks to Eighteen25 and they were a hit. :)
