Creative Craft Club: April

This month was the last time my Creative Craft Club at school will meet.  We only have May left before we are out for the summer, and it is a SUPER busy month for us all!  Since Mother's Day is coming up,
(MAY 13th!)
I thought this would be a cute craft the girls could make for their moms.
A couple of months ago, I made some flower pins that were similar, but made with twine and fabric. You can see them HERE.
My friend, Kristy, over at A Pocket Full of Poise had a tutorial showing how to make these felt flower pens.  You can check the tutorial out HERE.
The girls did a great job making these! Aren't they super cute?!?!
You know you want one!!

Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

March Craft Club- T Shirt Scarves

This month, I had the girls work on creating spring scarves out of old 't' shirts.  I thought they did a great job, and they looked pretty cute in them afterward!

My original post about these scarves....here.

And the tutorial I used from B.Cheniful....here

Hope your week has been fan-tabu-lous!!!!! :)

Creative Craft Club-February Edition

Creative Craft Club got together this month to share the love.

I found this cute idea in the February Family Fun Magazine. (picture above)

The girls loved it, and so did I! NO HOT GLUE! (It can be hard to find crafts to do that doesn't involve handling hot glue...don't want my 5th graders burning themselves!)
What you need:
t shirt
glue stick
craft paint
heart doilies
What you do:

Use the glue stick to glue the middle of the heart doily down to the t shirt.

Paint over the doily.

Peel doily off.

Let dry.

Viola!

We all walked away with a cool new shirt to wear on

Valentine's Day!

December Craft club- Poppy Headbands!

This week was Craft Club week! The girls were super excited because we were going to be making headbands. The headbands we made were modeled after the poppy headband I made in the pic above.

I printed the template for the flower at Factory Direct Craft Blog .

The girls all brought:

a piece of felt

a headband

a button

I provided:

hot glue/hot glue gun

The headbands turned out really fun, and I loved to see how all the different personalities played out in this accessory!
Hard at work!

Isn't she just too stink'n cute?? :)

Creative Crafting- November meeting

Shrinky Dinks. Yes. I love them. SOOOOOOOOO first let me start by saying.... YES, I know... not nearly enough pics of how super stink'n cute the girls charms turned out. (I forgot my camera! ) YES, I know...the pics I do have aren't that great. (I had to use my cell phone, and I got so caught up in helping the girls get jump rings on their charms...totally forgot about pics.) Sorry. I will do better.

Ok, on to the good. This month the girls each received a piece of Shrinky Dink paper (or you can actually use any #6 plastic) They were given free reign over what to create for their charm. I gave them permanent markers, told them to go for it. The girls did a fabulously cute and crafty job. SERIOUSLY CUTE.
Here is one of my cutie patootie 5th grade girls. Those are her charms hanging around her neck. I think she made one for each of her pets. :)

Isn't that ladybug a cute idea?!?!

Here is another one of my 5th graders making a BE HAPPY face. Love it.

The girls had a good time, and I was totally inspired by them to make my own! If I wasn't spending all my free time making stuff for Chatty Crafty....I would make a ton of shrinky dink charms!

PS- I see that I have hit 150 followers! YAY! You all know what that means....GIVEAWAY! Stay tuned...I will be posting it ASAP.

Much love on a Monday-

Tracy

Spotlight on Thrasher's Creative Crafting Club

I have mentioned before that I teach 5th grade, and this fall I transferred to Thrasher Elementary. I. Love. it. It's a fantastic school, and everyone I have met has been great.

Anyhoo, Thrasher offers students different after school clubs to be a part of, and most of the teachers participate in the clubs. My club is the "Creative Crafting" club. Big surprise, right? I have a big bunch of 4th and 5th grade girls, and we are focused on DIY accessories. FUN!

This past week was our first meeting, and I asked if they might want to be the focus of a blog post once a month. With joy and anticipation, they quickly agreed to my request, so here we are.

This month we made "friendship button bracelets." Aren't they cute? I found the idea in an issue of Family Fun Magazine.

You can find Family Fun's tutorial, here.

We only meet for an hour, once a month, so our craft had to be a quick one.

The girls loved it, though, and did a great job.

Good times.

Next month....Shrinky Dinks. Yup, you heard me.

It's gonna be awesome.

Happy Wednesday-

Tracy
